Team Texas announces Kevin Colley as Director of Team Texas Tournaments
Team Texas is thrilled to announce the addition of Kevin Colley as our Director of Team Texas Tournaments—a hire that will define the standard of excellence for this program.
Coach Colley’s resume speaks for itself. A former NHL player with the New York Islanders, Kevin’s path to the top level was built entirely on relentless work ethic, grit, and an unwavering commitment to being the best player he could be, every single shift. He represented Team USA at the World Junior Championships, captained the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers, won the ECHL Kelly Cup Championship as Playoff MVP, and made his NHL debut at Madison Square Garden — about as big a stage as hockey has to offer.
In 2006, Kevin was honored by the New York Islanders organization with the prestigious Bob Nystrom Award — given each year to the player who best exemplifies leadership, hustle, and dedication as voted on by the fans. There is no higher compliment in hockey culture. That is the standard Kevin Colley set as a player — and the standard he will bring to every Team Texas practice, every skills session, and every conversation with a young player about their future in this game.
When his playing career concluded, Coach Colley never left the game. He transitioned behind the bench with the same intensity he brought to every shift — serving as Head Coach of the Utah Grizzlies and the Arizona Sundogs at the professional level, and most recently leading skills and player development at the Texas Heat, where his impact on developing young players was immediate, measurable, and impossible to miss.
As Director of Team Texas Tournaments, Kevin Colley will lead all on-ice skill training while providing each player with individual attention, accountability, and a clear roadmap to advance to the next level of hockey.
This is an example of Team Texas wanting the best people and coaches around our players. Welcome to Team Texas, Coach Colley.
